The South Metro Fire District is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the voters living within the boundaries of the Fire District.

Board of Directors meetings are open to the public. They are held on the third Thursday of each month in the meeting room at the South Metro Training Building (317 Conway) behind Fire Headquarters, 611 W Foxwood Dr. (58 Hwy), Raymore. Recordings of the South Metro Board meetings are also broadcast at intervals on Comcast Government Access, Channel 7 in Raymore.
